July 26 2016 Based on the blurb I think it s time for me to give this series up The last one was already pretty bad this one might be pushing things too far January 12 2017I ve already read so many bad books this month i ecided to take my chances with this decided to take my chances with this Conjure In African American Society disclosure I m expecting this to be bad After reading 7% of the book I remember how much I wanted to kick George Lucas for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull A series all about history and myth and religion then all of a sudden you get smacked in the face with AliensNooooooSpoilers below And Anne Rice justid the same here We have a eep and meaningful history and mythology to our vampires then Anne Rice Suddenly Hits Us With A Bomb After hits us with a bomb after many books that its AliensSo what about the spirits or Memnoch or Amel All ghosts of synthetic beings built by Aliens Fuck thatSo aliens from a istant planet have being screwing with us to get some sort of kicks from our miseryThis is used as a source for Christianity in the book indicating Rice has taken another one of her belief swings which feeds into her bookLike Indiana Jones insane turn of events I still like Lestat and the main crew as much as I still like Indy But with mad Alien created beings called Replimoids and a complete rewrite of the history to hammer in alien infiltration I can t help but think its all gone a bit bat crap crazyPart of me is hoping Disney will step in and buy the whole lot and get it back to where it was meant to be and Anne Rice can enjoy her retirement years with George Lucas with neither being able to further sully their legacy with Alien twists Anne Rice made a mistake by always involving other species into her vampire chronicles she id this with the witches in Blackwood Farm and Merrick with the Taltos in Blood Canticle and now there are aliens which she wants us to enjoy People read the Vampire Chronicles because they are about vampires and most of people on t want to read about other creatures and that s something Anne should finally realizeI recommend reading the spoilers because it The alphas abused mate doesn t matter if you re going to be spoiled this bookoesn t have any shocking revelations anywaySPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERSTo go into the story this is one of the worst books in the chronicles I never felt I was very interested in the story and I read this purely because I have read all the previous books and I wanted to know what would happen to Louis and Lestat The plot is completely ridiculous and the whole idea of aliens living in atlantis and being able to replicate through amputation is something nobody wants to readWe get multiple Word Alchemy different perspectives in this book just like in Prince Lestat This makes the book even boring than it already was because Iidn t care about 75% of the characters in this book The replimoids are not interesting and the whole 74 pages of The Black Renaissance in Francophone African and Caribbean Literatures description from Kapetria is so redundant This book was only slightly better than Memnoch The Devil which I gave 1 star because of its endless monologue about religion This book gets two stars but skip it if you re a fan of the series because this belongs to the list of books of the Vampire Chronicles which are the result of Anne going a bit crazy 099 on US Kindle today February 19 2017 If you were thinking of giving this one a try now is the time too it I liked it shrug35 starsI m not sure where to start Parts of it were amazing while others parts An Endless Lie dragged on This was a veryifferent type of Vampire Chronicle with a ROMANCE (BWWM Military Romance Boxset) (African American Urban Series Short Stories Book 1) distinct sci fi vibe In fact I liked this aspect best The vampires are missing the excitement and unpredictability from earlier books They seem tooomesticated and settled My Hero Academia memes for kids - Funny New Memes 2019 down Lestat is far from the Brat Prince We still have the unapologetic blood. At the novel's center the vampire Lestate Lioncourt hero leader inspirer irresistible force irrepressible spirit battling and ultimately reconciling with a strange otherworldly form that has somehow taken possession of Lestat's undead body and soul This ancient and mysterious power and unearthly spirit of vampire lore has all the force history and insidious reach of the unknowable Univer. Drinking and the morally ambiguous behavior at times but things felt too safe #Armand Is Pretty Much #is pretty much only one now who seems to go against the flow Lestat s mother Gabrielle is still her fun abrasive self I enjoyed seeing all the regular characters from previous novels Louis plays a pretty prominent role in this one and he seems to have finally accepted himself He and Lestat are on very good terms nowA lot of the focus of these last two books has been on science and technology and genetics etc I on t find this to be particularly exciting when reading a vampire book However there have also been particularly exciting when reading a vampire book However there have also been and metaphysical themes which I ig It s always a good thing when a book makes you think The main story in this involves a new type of nonhuman being ones who originated from the times of Atlantis It also has a LOT to Daddy Blames Me do with Amel the creaturespirit who originally was in The ueen of the Damned and connects all vampires If you want to know a little bit about the science fiction vibe read the spoiler view spoilerThis has ALIENS in it There are beings only identified as the Parents from another planet who genetically engineer humanoids to go to Earth to create a cataclysm The Parents claim that mammals were not supposed to rise to supremacy over the planet and areriven by their need to war murder and hurt other lifeforms We then find out the Parents are purposely trying to create chaos and pain on Earth in order to feed off the negative energy They somehow can receive sustenance from the nonphysical energy of Statistical Arbitrage: Algorithmic Trading Insights and Techniques (Wiley Finance) death violence and grief hide spoiler Sometimes it s best not to say anything at all I keep reading Lestat books hoping to reclaim some of the magic of the first two in the series but I m alwaysisappointed some than others I should have known not to even pick this one up when I read the title but I thought I Facing the Rising Sun d give it one shot No Just no I am so tired of the insertion of otherworldly beings into Rice s books I am even tired of the syrupy sentimentality Okay it s abandoned I ve learned my lesson If I want a Lestat fix I will go back and re read Interview with a Vampire and The Vampire Lestat How I wish I could go back to theays of The Vampire Lestat or ueen of the Damned when I loved these books How I wish the magic could be captured again i love how the reviews for this book seem to be comprised solely of 1 people who actually read solely of 1 people who actually read fucking trainwreck and 2 people who will look at any book by anne rice no matter how horrible it is and automatically rate it 4 or 5 starsthis is just god it s so bad like i can t even fully coherently type out how bad it was because 1 it took me over 2 weeks to read and 2 i feel like i ve already blocked out parts that were too ridiculous because i just can t even handle how awful this book is i even skimmed like a good third of it and it STILL took me 2 weeks to muddle my way through it the entire tale of atlantis part was just me reading every like 3 paragraph and sighing out loud going WHAT while my roommate who finished the book within like 4 Best African American Fiction 2010 days laughed at meokfirston t try to write sci fi if you aren t going to Her Alien Bodyguard (The Guards Of Attala, do ANY kind of scientific research to make things mildly believable the entire alien side of this book is ridiculous and nothing is really explained or makes any sense at all i almost wish it WAS a book about mermaids like we all though bc then at least it still would have been fantasy and it would have been bad but it would have made sense in a way and she wasn t even trying towards the end oh i have to write a brain surgery scene well lestat is having brain surgery and he s unconscious for it and so i ll just make the chapter his pov so ion t have to actually eal with it literally at all REALLY ANNE lik. SeIt is through this spirit previously considered benign for thousands of vampire years and throughout the Vampire Chronicles that we come to be told the hypnotic tale of a great sea power of ancient times; a mysterious heaven on earth situated on a boundless continent and of how and why and in what manner and with what far reaching purpose this force came to build and rule the great legen. ,
